Carolers and luminaries guide your way through Wilmington's oak-canopied neighborhoods during the Lower Cape  Fear Historical Society's 43rd Old Wilmington by Candlelight Tour. Meander through the parlors and gardens of the 1852 Latimer House Museum, headquarters of the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society since 1963. Learn about Victorian Christmases and witness the beauty of the Latimer House decked in holiday flora. ten private homes and three houses of worship in downtown Wilmington, the trolly suburb of Carolina Heights, and the historic Country Club Pines neighborhood are opened to the public. Join the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society for this staple of Wilmington's holiday season and to continue our organization's mission of disseminating knowledge of the region's rich historical significance.

Tickets may be purchased online via PayPal and will be available for pick-up at the will call table during the tour at the Latimer House Museum.


Additionally, tickets may be purchased at Wilmington-area Harris Teeter stores for $38 using your VIC Card or at Ivy Cottage, located at 3020 Market Street in Wilmington.


All proceeds benefit the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society's continued preservation of the Latimer House as a museum interpreting life in Wilmington during the Victorian Era and as a local history archives.

Parking?

The tour requires driving and parking in three historic Wilmington neighborhoods:


Downtown: Park in the First Presbyterian Church Parking Lot at 125 South Third Street


Carolina Heights: Street parking in the 500 block of North Fifteenth Street


Country Club Pines: Street parking along Magnolia Place

Walking

Once parked in each of the three historic neighborhoods, the tour sites are within a few blocks. Unfortunately, the tour is not handicap accessable. 

Photography?

Photography is only permissible in the Latimer House Museum. Photography inside the private homes is prohibited.  

Time?

The time required to complete the tour varies between individuals and their physical abilities.
